Roche VR – Multiple Sclerosis Simulation
Immersive simulation of MS symptoms
Created in collaboration with the MS community, this Roche virtual reality experience was designed to communicate how multiple sclerosis symptoms can affect everyday movement, particularly in the arms and hands.
The experience combined VR with a specialist glove that restricted hand and arm movement and reproduced effects including tremor and stiffness. Participants without MS could then attempt a familiar activity, such as potting a plant, and experience how apparently simple tasks can become substantially more difficult when those symptoms are introduced. The project used embodied interaction to make an otherwise difficult-to-communicate condition more tangible.
