Interactive public art and awareness installation
Make Blood Cancer Visible
Make Blood Cancer Visible was a nationwide awareness campaign designed to make an often unseen disease visible in public space. Installed in London, Cardiff, Manchester and Edinburgh during September 2018, the experience centred on ten life-sized transparent human figures representing the invisible nature of blood cancer.
Each motion-activated figure combined proximity sensing, 60 programmable LEDs and an individual audio channel. As visitors approached, the sculptures responded with light and first-hand stories recorded by people diagnosed with blood cancer. The interaction encouraged passers-by to stop, listen and engage with the campaign, culminating in a simple call to show their support.
