Energy Manager – Mishkat Interactive Center

Gesture-based renewable energy education game

For the Mishkat Interactive Center for Atomic and Renewable Energy in Saudi Arabia, we created Energy Manager, a large-scale educational game designed for families and school groups. Players balance different energy sources to deliver the right amount of power to a virtual city, responding to natural and human-made events that affect supply and performance.

The experience transformed three existing curved tables into a shared gestural interface. The technical system combined 10 networked PCs, nine 3D motion cameras and nine networked projectors, with depth mapping across the curved surfaces. The result was an instantly playable game that turned renewable-energy concepts into collaborative, physical interaction.
