On the Morning You Wake

On the Morning You Wake examines the 2018 Hawai‘i false ballistic-missile alert, when 1.4 million people received an emergency message warning of an incoming threat and were told to seek immediate shelter. The immersive documentary uses that event to confront the continuing reality and human impact of nuclear risk.

We created a screen edit of the VR documentary so the work could be broadcast through traditional 2D television channels, translating an experience designed for a headset into a format suitable for conventional screens while preserving its narrative and emotional impact.
